Store setup
nine steps from a new account to a store that can take an order.
The exact sequence a Bangladesh merchant follows on Horcrux: identity, five public policies, delivery coverage, product readiness and one cash-on-delivery order. Checkout waits for seller identity, the five published policies with their acknowledgement, and delivery coverage; the measurement step is optional and nothing in checkout depends on it.
Store setup steps
01 / Sign in
Start with an email address you control.
Open horcrux.app, choose email sign-in and enter the one-time code we send you. Google and passkey sign-in work as well. This address is your account identity and where every security notice goes; the store is the business it belongs to.
- Enter the code from that email to finish signing in.
- One person, one account. A shared or generic business mailbox is store data, never a login.
02 / Create the store
Name the store and accept the current agreement.
A verified account creates a Starter store with no approval step. Enter the store name, choose Bangladesh as the operating country to sell now, and add the billing contact email that should receive invoices.
- Accept the current Terms and incorporated DPA, and acknowledge the Privacy Notice.
- The operating country cannot be changed after creation, and Horcrux builds the store address from the name.
03 / Seller identity
Publish who is selling.
Open Storefront, then the accountable seller details. Checkout stays closed until the public identity is complete and its public email is verified from the link we send to that address.
- Public store name, legal owner or business name, and business type.
- Public email, then verify it from the emailed link.
- Phone as +8801XXXXXXXXX, and a contact address with street, area and city.
- Support hours, plus a support email or Bangladesh phone.
04 / Five public policies
Complete, publish and acknowledge all five policies.
Storefront holds the five public policy records checkout depends on. Write each one, publish it, then acknowledge the current set for that exact revision.
- Terms, Privacy, Returns and refunds, Shipping and delivery, and Business information and contact.
- An incomplete record or an older template is a blocker, not a warning.
- Editing a published policy creates a new revision that needs acknowledgement again.
05 / Delivery
Cover the districts you actually deliver to.
Open Delivery, create a zone with its fee, then add each district or upazila that zone serves. Checkout only offers delivery where an active zone covers the shopper's area.
- Name zones the way customers think: Inside Dhaka, Outside Dhaka.
- The fee the shopper pays comes from the zone that covers their upazila or district.
- No active coverage means the storefront still browses while checkout stays unavailable.
06 / Products
A product needs a price and an image to go live.
Add a title, at least one active variant with a valid price, and at least one image. Until then the product stays a draft and the storefront does not sell it.
- Add options, variants and stock before publishing.
- Starter allows 10 active products at a time.
07 / First order
Run one cash-on-delivery order through your own checkout.
Place an order on your storefront the way a shopper would, then cancel it from the dashboard. You see the order confirmation, the order record and the cancellation, so nothing surprises you on your first real sale.
- A placed order counts once against the monthly allowance, even after you cancel it.
- A shopper can cancel while the order is unconfirmed; staff can cancel until courier transit begins.
08 / Optional measurement
Meta measurement is optional and starts with the Pixel.
Browser Pixel measurement lives under Settings, then Meta measurement. A numeric Pixel ID saved with its Pixel-specific authorization is standard measurement: it needs no Meta connection, it is consent-gated, and checkout never depends on it. Catalog sync, Conversions API sharing and Business asset connection remain externally gated.
- Standard Pixel measurement is Beta and merchant self-tested.
- Catalog sync, Conversions API sharing and asset connection need the Meta connection and stay externally gated.
09 / Starter allowance
Know the allowance before you scale.
Starter is free, charges no Horcrux transaction fee and caps no processed sales value. Limits apply to active products, placed orders, team members and courier connections.
- 10 active products.
- 100 placed orders per Dhaka month, plus a one-time 50-order growth buffer once per owner.
- 3 active members including the Primary Owner, and 1 approved courier connection.
- One free transacting Starter store per owner or business; a second selling store needs Essential.
If a step blocks you
Set up in order, and do not skip the policy step.
Checkout opens only when seller identity, the five published policies, their acknowledgement and delivery coverage are all current. Starter includes basic, non-priority email help for setup blockers and product problems. Write to horcrux@dropoutstudio.co with the store address and the step that stopped you.
Read the current plans and limits, or the product boundaries before you commit to a workflow.
